In 1993, a refinance boom demanded servicers to prepare lien releases in unprecedented volume. New laws allowing mortgages and deeds of trust to cross state borders found servicers preparing lien releases, mortgage satisfactions, reconveyances, cancellations of mortgages, etc in all of America’s 3600+ recording districts—each of which has its own requirements, regulations, fees and penalties. In response to this demand, Stanley Gainsforth programmed the original version of the Rekon system.

After two years of fine tuning the original version of Rekon in an outsource document preparation company American Release Corporation and a document retrieval company Richmond-Monroe Research, Rekon debuted at the 1995 MBA National Convention and was offered to lenders and servicers. The reception was enthusiastic.

Now, the Rekon system has become the most advanced, streamlined lien release and assignment processing system in the industry. It evolved from a simple self-contained system, designed for the Windows 3.11 platform, to a system built to span across the globe in WANs, backed by the stability and security of a SQL server and is able to function on many modern Windows platforms, including Windows9x, NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP and even in a Citrix environment.

Today, Rekon is the primary choice for lien release preparation in the industry. We boast a clientele of 50 plus, in which eight of the top 10 loan servicers in the United States prefer the Rekon system. This translates to more than half of the lien releases in America are processed through the Rekon system.
